As has been communicated to schools since last November, when the decision was taken by the DfE, the way in which schools access Appropriate Body services has changed from September 2023

From September 2023

• All ECTs new to a school (be they at the beginning of their induction or already part-way through) can only be registered with Training School Hub-based Appropriate Bodies – such ECTs cannot be registered with Local Authority-based Appropriate Bodies.
  The DfE’s recommendation (please note that this is not a requirement; schools are free to work with any Appropriate Body they come to an arrangement with) is that schools register their new ECTs with the Training School Bub-based Appropriate Body serving the geographical area in which they ‘reside’ – in the case of Lambeth, this is the London South Training School Hub (LSTSH).

• Lambeth will be able to continue acting as Appropriate Body for any ECT that was registered for this purpose prior to the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.

 

From September 2024

 

• All ECTs new to a school (be they at the beginning of their induction or already part-way through) can only be registered with Training School Hub-based Appropriate Bodies – such ECTs cannot be registered with Local Authority-based Appropriate Bodies.

• All ECTs still registered with Lambeth as Appropriate Body at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year will need to be transferred to a Training School Hub-based Appropriate Body in order to complete their induction.

• Lambeth, as all Local Authorities, will cease to be an Appropriate Body.
